GOVERNOR BARBOUR APPOINTS PLOTNER TO EXAMINERS BOARD
(Jackson, Mississippi)—Governor Haley Barbour announced the appointment of Kristi Plotner, of Madison, to the Board of Examiners for Social Workers and Marriage and Family Therapists. The purpose of this board is to ensure that the citizens of Mississippi are protected from the unprofessional, improper, unauthorized, and unqualified practice of social work and marriage and family therapy.
“Kristi is well-qualified to serve on this board,” Governor Barbour said. “She is a licensed professional and has extensive therapy and social work experience. I am confident Kristi will serve the citizens of Mississippi well.”
Plotner has worked for the Division of Medicaid for 9 years and currently serves as its division director for Mental Health Services. Under Plotner’s direction, this division is responsible for the administration of the Community Mental Health Center program, the Psychiatric Residential Treatment program, the Pre-Admission Screening and Resident Review program, and other mental health services offered by the Mississippi Medicaid program. Previously in her career, Plotner worked with mental health programs and private consulting.
She serves on the State Level Case Review team, the State Mental Health Planning Council and is chairperson of the Interagency System of Care Council. Additionally, Plotner is secretary of the Mississippi Chapter of the National Association of Social Workers.
Plotner and her husband, Ryan, have two children, Reagan and Reed.
