GOVERNOR BARBOUR APPOINTS PERRY TO STATE BOARD FOR COMMUNITY AND JUNIOR COLLEGES
(Jackson, Mississippi)—Governor Haley Barbour announced the appointment of Ed Perry, of Oxford, to the Mississippi State Board for Community and Junior Colleges, which serves as a coordinating board to authorize disbursements of state appropriated funds to the 15 community and junior colleges throughout the state.
“Ed is committed to improving the quality of higher education in Mississippi. He has a proven work ethic, and I look forward to working with Ed as he undertakes this new board position,” Governor Barbour said.
Perry practiced law for 33 years in Oxford and Lafayette County and is a former member of the Mississippi House of Representatives, where he represented District 12 for 32 years. During this time, Perry was chairman of appropriation, constitution, judiciary, and municipality committees. Upon his retirement from the Legislature, Perry served as Clerk of the House of Representatives from 2000 to 2004.
He is a graduate of the University of Mississippi, where he received a bachelor’s degree in history/political science. He received a law degree from the University of Mississippi School of Law. Perry has two daughters, Martha and Melissa.
