GOVERNOR BARBOUR APPOINTS NORTH TO REAL ESTATE APPRAISER AND LICENSING BOARD
(Jackson, Mississippi)—Governor Haley Barbour today announced the appointment of Leslie North, of Gulfport, to the Real Estate Appraiser and Licensing Board. This board establishes appropriate procedures to process real estate appraiser applications, issues licenses to qualified applicants, and maintains a registry of the names and addresses of individuals who are currently licensed.
“Leslie has excellent credentials to fill this position,” Governor Barbour said. “She has many years of real estate experience that will enable her to serve the people of Mississippi successfully, and I am confident she will be a great asset to the board.”
North has 22 years of experience as a real estate appraiser and currently serves as senior vice president and appraisal manager of Hancock Bank. She is certified as a General Appraiser by the Mississippi Appraisal Board and holds the MAI professional designation from the Appraisal Institute. Licensed as a broker by the Mississippi Real Estate Commission, she is a member of the Mississippi Gulf Coast Board of Realtors. Additionally, North is treasurer and education chairman of the Mississippi Chapter of the Appraisal Institute. She is a past member, treasurer, and secretary of the Women’s Council of Realtors and received the WCR Presidential Award for Outstanding Service.
North received a bachelor’s degree in business administration with an emphasis in real estate and insurance from the University of Southern Mississippi, and is currently attending the Graduate School of Banking at Louisiana State University. She and her husband, Alex, have a son, Jacob, and a daughter, Sarah.
