GOVERNOR BARBOUR APPOINTS OSBORNE TO THE DELTA REGIONAL REVITALIZATION TASK FORCE
(Jackson, Mississippi)—Governor Haley Barbour today announced the appointment of John R. Osborne, of Hernando, to the Delta Regional Revitalization Task Force. The task force will function as an independent research and analytical group designed to set measurable, achievable, and significant goals that will revitalize the Mississippi Delta Region.
“John has years of business experience and understands the value of economic development to the Delta’s economy. He is well-qualified to serve in this capacity,” Governor Barbour said.
Osborne, a licensed CPA, is vice president of operations and general manager of Hollywood Casino in Tunica. His past experience includes working as a casino controller, a Certified Internal Auditor, and adjunct professor of accounting. Osborne is director of the Tunica Convention and Visitors Bureau and serves as regional president of the Mississippi Casino Operators Association. A member of the Mississippi Economic Council’s board of governors, Osborne is past president of the Mississippi Gaming Association. Currently, he is commissioner and past chairman of the Tunica County Utility District. Osborne was inducted into the Tunica Tourism Hall of Fame in 2003 and was chosen as the 2004 “Outstanding General Manager” by the Mississippi Hotel and Lodging Association. In 2005, Osborne was selected as a “Who’s Who—Large Business” winner by the Mississippi Business Journal.
He holds a degree in business administration from the University of Montclair and is currently enrolled at the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School of Business. Osborne and his wife, Janet, have two children.
