GOVERNOR BARBOUR APPOINTS MCFERRIN TO PHARMACY AND THERAPEUTICS COMMITTEE

(Jackson, Mississippi)—Governor Haley Barbour today announced the appointment of Garry McFerrin, of Tupelo, to the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee under the Division of Medicaid. This committee conducts in-depth evaluations of available drugs and recommends appropriate drugs for preferred status, as well as evaluates drugs and drug classes for safety and overall therapeutic and cost value.

“Garry has extensive knowledge of the pharmaceutical industry and will serve our citizens successfully on this committee. I look forward to working with him and other members as we tackle the state’s pharmacy and therapeutic issues,” Governor Barbour said.

McFerrin owns VP Pharmacy and previously operated an independent pharmacy, Fred’s Pharmacy. He is a graduate of Itawamba Community College and the University of Mississippi’s School of Pharmacy. He and his wife, Gail, have one son, Evan.
