GOVERNOR BARBOUR APPOINTS SHEPHERD TO MISSISSIPPI CRIME STOPPERS ADVISORY COUNCIL
(Jackson, Mississippi)—Governor Haley Barbour today announced the appointment of Pike County Sheriff Mark Shepherd to the Mississippi Crime Stoppers Advisory Council, which assists in the creation and promoting of local crime stoppers programs and helps increase the flow of information between law enforcement agencies.
“Mark has a passion for helping prevent crimes in Mississippi and his extensive law enforcement experience will be a huge asset to his work on this council,” Governor Barbour said. “I am confident he will work hard alongside the other members of this board to protect the safety of Mississippi citizens.”
Shepherd has worked in law enforcement since 1984, when he joined the McComb Police Department. He is a member of the Pike County Pandemic Task Force, Control group member for the Southwest Mississippi Narcotics Enforcement Unit, and advisory council member for Deaconess Home Care. Shepherd also holds membership with the Mississippi Sheriffs Association.
A Certified Police Officer, Shepherd graduated from the Mississippi Law Enforcement Training Academy after earning an associate’s degree from Southwest Mississippi Community College. He and his wife, Julie, have three sons, Clay, J.T., and Jacob.
