GOVERNOR BARBOUR REAPPOINTS GILLESS TO REAL ESTATE COMMISSION
(Jackson, Mississippi)—Governor Haley Barbour announced the reappointment of Alvin Gilless, of Southaven, to the Real Estate Commission, which administers control over the commercial real estate business in the state by licensing all real estate brokers and salespersons.
“Al has been an outstanding member of this commission, and I look forward to working with him as he continues to provide an important service to the real estate professionals in Mississippi,” Governor Barbour said.
Gilless owns Al Gilless Development, which specializes in developing residential and commercial real estate across Desoto, Tate, and Panola Counties. Within his community, Gilless has served as director of the Southaven Jaycees; president of the Southaven Rotary Club; and director of Southaven Chamber of Commerce. Gilless is past chairman of the Southaven Planning Commission and served as a former member of the Desoto Planning Commission. In 2001, he was chosen as Rotarian of the Year.
Gilless attended Memphis State University, majoring in business administration, and Northwest Community College, specializing in real estate courses.
