GOVERNOR BARBOUR REAPPOINTS WALKER TO MISSISSIPPI INDUSTRIES FOR THE BLIND
(JACKSON, Mississippi)—Governor Haley Barbour has announced the reappointment of Samuel W. Walker, Jr., of Madison, to the board of directors of the Mississippi Industries for the Blind, which aids in training and providing jobs for visually impaired or blind Mississippians.
“Samuel’s financial experience will serve him well in this position with the Mississippi Blind Industries, where his knowledge of banking will continue to be a great asset,” Governor Barbour said.
Walker, who will serve on the board as a financial advisor, has worked in banking and finance since 1985. Currently, he is first vice president of Trustmark National Bank in Jackson, where he has been employed since December 1993. Walker also owns Walker Rentals in Madison.
Walker is a graduate of Vassar College in New York and the University of New Orleans. He and his wife, Vernadette, have three children, Samonne, Elan, and Samuel III.
