GOVERNOR BARBOUR APPOINTS BYRD TO BOILER AND PRESSURE VESSEL SAFETY ADVISORY COMMITTEE
(JACKSON, Mississippi)—Governor Haley Barbour has announced the appointment of Robert O. Byrd, of Jackson, to the Mississippi Boiler and Pressure Vessel Safety Advisory Committee, which oversees the regulation and safe inspection of boilers and pressure vessels within the state.
“I’m pleased Bob has accepted this important assignment and look forward to his good works on this board,” Governor Barbour said.
Byrd has 22 years of engineering experience and has overseen the mechanical engineering department at Cooke Douglass Farr Lemons, Ltd., Architects and Engineers, P.A., for the past 9 years. He is a registered engineer in Mississippi, South Carolina, and Tennessee, and is a member of the Mississippi Engineering Society and the American Council of Engineering Companies. Throughout his career, Byrd has provided engineering services for the University of Mississippi, General Services Administration, and the U.S. Department of Defense.
A graduate of Mississippi State University, Byrd holds a bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering. He and his wife, Donna Kaye, have two daughters, Melissa and Amanda.
