GOVERNOR HALEY BARBOUR FILLS CIRCUIT COURT VACANCY
(Jackson, Miss.) – Governor Haley Barbour today announced his appointment to the Mississippi Circuit Court (District 14) representing Lincoln, Pike, and Walthall counties. Michael M. Taylor, of Brookhaven, will serve in former Judge Keith Starrett’s post due to his resignation effective December 31, 2004.
“The Judicial Appointments Advisory Committee has worked hard to ensure that a qualified, conscientious, and dedicated person fills this important post,” said Governor Barbour. “Mike is a man of integrity and high moral character. I know that he will be an asset to Mississippi’s judicial system.”
Taylor has practiced law for 18 years and received his law degree from the University of Mississippi. He is a member of the Lincoln County Bar Association and a Youth Court Referee. He has been involved in numerous community activities including the Brookhaven Lions Club, Brookhaven-Lincoln County Chamber of Commerce, and the United Way Board of Directors. He has three children and is married to Becky Brady Taylor.
Governor Barbour’s Judicial Appointments Advisory Committee, which reviews the qualifications of potential judicial appointees in accordance with Executive Order 914, found Taylor fully qualified to serve in this post.
