GOVERNOR BARBOUR APPOINTS BEATTIE TO MASSAGE THERAPY BOARD
(JACKSON, Mississippi)-Governor Haley Barbour has appointed Christie Beattie, of Greenwood, to the State Board of Massage Therapy, which regulates the practice of massage therapy in Mississippi.
“As a professional massage therapist, Christie will be an excellent addition to this important regulatory board,” Governor Barbour said. “I appreciate her willingness to serve the state in this capacity.”
Beattie, previous owner of the Healing Arts Center, currently works as the wellness coordinator for the Alluvian Spa, which is located in downtown Greenwood. She is the past president of the American Massage Therapy Association and was named “Favorite Massage Therapist” in 2006 and 2007 by the Greenwood Commonwealth’s People’s Choice Awards. Within her community, Beattie is a life member and past president of the Greenwood Junior Auxiliary.
Beattie attended Campbellsville University in Kentucky and is a graduate of the Natural Healing Arts Schools of Massage Therapy in Grenada. In 1998, Beattie attended sports massage training at the Olympics Center in Beijing, China, and she also received certification in orthopedic massage techniques.
Beattie and her husband, Richard, have one adult son, Joshua.
